Fresh Hepatocytes with a 5 day shelf lifeLGC Standards is working in partnership with Abcellute to deliver greater convenience, ease of use and improved functionality to researchers working with preserved hepatocytes which play a key role in the metabolism of many therapeutic drugs.
The Abcellute technology platform permits the shipment and storage of fresh hepatocytes at non-freezing temperatures with minimal loss of biological function (including phase II enzyme and transporter activity) for up to 5 days. Fresh hepatocytes offer the potential to achieve superior modelling in traditional preclinical ADME, DMPK, in-vitro toxicology assays as well as NCE evaluation or NCE toxicology.

ADMETOX or ADMET assays are increasingly recognised as playing a crucial role early in the drug discovery pipeline as drug companies’ look to reduce the costs associated with later stage candidate failure. The Abcellute preserved hepatocytes are available in pre-plated format for assays such as enzyme induction or in suspension which often suits many automated high throughput screening platforms. The pre-plated cells are available in a variety of different well formats including 6, 12 , 24, 48 and 96 well micro titre plates.
Human hepatocytes are also available on request and with the extended shelf life afforded through the Abcellute system human cells are now available at time more convenient to a laboratory schedule and we have a number of customers who are already benefiting from the supply of cells freshly isolated over the weekend and available for use early Monday morning.
