Keith has been Key Account Manager and Product Manager in the Phytochemical, Forensic and Clinical Team for LGC Standards since December 2009. He has previously carried out a number of technical and commercial roles within the LGC Group including Head of Analytical Toxicology, Strategic Business Development Manager.
He joined the company after completing his PhD in the Metabolism of Anabolic Agents in the Racing Greyhound at the University of Glasgow and running the Forensic Toxicology Section at the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Dundee.
Analytical toxicology – the detection, identification, and measurement of foreign compounds (xenobiotics) in biological and related specimens – has immense forensic and clinical value. This is principally through the diagnosis, management, prognosis, and prevention of poisoning. It can also offer reliable assessment of exposure following chemical incidents, therapeutic drug monitoring, forensic analyses, and monitoring for drugs of abuse.
Dr Williams’ extensive experience has focused on identification and quantitation of xenobiotics using chromatographic and mass spectrometricanalytical techniques. Both Keith and his various teams have developed ground-breaking methodology for the analysis of many analytes in a great number of matrix types from a number of animal species as well as humans. Target matrices have included blood, serum, urine, tissues, hair and oral fluid.
Keith’s direct experience as a practicing Forensic Toxicologist and commercial manager has also made him acutely aware of the requirements for accurate, cost effective reference materials.
