New clinical and GMO reference materials from IRMM

Date:11 November 2012

IRMM- new certified reference materials for monitoring leukaemia

IRMM have broken ground in producing the world?s first certified reference material ERM-AD623 for monitoring chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML), which is a cancer of the white blood cells. Whilst CML can?t currently be cured, it can be kept under control with specific enzyme inhibitors. ERM-AD623 (a set of BCR-ABL pDNA calibrants) will support accuracy in the monitoring of leukaemia and it will be an essential tool to correctly asses the human response to leukaemia treatment and to detect a relapse of a patient early. It has been developed using specifically tailored plasmids suitable for the calibrations of the BCR-ALB 1 measurements by copy numbers and characterised by expert laboratories using digital polymerase chain reaction - the most advanced counting method for small DNA amounts. New from IRMM! GMOs for AV43-6-G7 potato and DAS-40278-9 maize

European legislation requires labelling of food and feed containing more than 0.9% of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). New releases from IRMM include ERM-BF431 for AV43-6-G7 potato and ERM-BF433 for DAS-40278-9 maize which been produced to support development, validation and GMO quantification.
