Isotope labelled 2,5-Dihydroxybenzoic Acid is an active metabolite of salicylic acid degradation. Evidence indicates that gentisic acid has anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic and antioxidant properties. It is also a byproduct of both tyrosine and benzoate metabolisms.
