Itraconazole is an active antimycotic structurally related to Ketoconazole. Used to treat a number of fungal infections including aspergillosis, blastomyosis and histoplasmosis, Itraconazole is a triazole medicine that binds to the fungal p450 enymes, preventing the production of ergosterol. Through action in the Hedgehog pathway, Itraconazole exhibits a range of anticancer effects, including inhibition of the NF-κB pathway and inflammation, as well as the promotion of apoptosis in cancer cells.
